This includes planning out weekly schedules, organizing game times, handling camper discipline, etc. Applicant must oversee and spiritually challenge a staff of 8-10 counselors. Applicants must have at least one year of college or work completed and should have some prior camping experience.
Counselor
Guide and love on kids. We need male and female counselors to shepherd campers in their walk with the Lord. You will lead a daily Bible study with campers, participate or lead skill activities like crafts, canoeing, archery, and top off each day by joining your campers for a time of puppet shows, mimes, dramas, fun songs, and worship. An abundance of activities provide opportunities to have fun and get to know your campers through paddle boat rides, group games, etc. We are seeking mature, responsible, young people who have a deep love for children. Counselors must be at least 16 years of age to work with elementary age groups and at least 20 years of age to work with Jr. and Sr. High age groups, and preferably have one year of college or work completed. Also all counselors must apply and pass a background check.
Kitchen Help
For those desiring to serve the Lord behind the scenes, ministry in the kitchen offers the challenge of working with a team to prepare meals and the satisfaction of having a crucial part in the ministry at Camp. The kitchen serves and meets a need of everyone at camp, from the director to the camper. Whether you have culinary skills or just a willing spirit, Camp is in great need of people eager to serve Him in the kitchen. Please contact us if you are interested.
Grounds/Maintenance
It takes many God given skills to make a camp look great and operating efficiently. Flower beds, buildings, recreational equipment, vehicles, etc all need people to keep them maintained. By doing this campers will have a wonderful facility to have fun and grow closer to God.
Office Administration
This person would be doing general secretarial duties, such as working on the computer using programs like Word, Excel, and various other computer programs. They would also be answering the telephone and routing the call to the appropriate person.
Computer Technology
Working on the computer using programs like Word, Excel, iMovie, iDVD, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, etc. can be so fun! Using these tools to bring an esthetically pleasing visual atmosphere for campers can bring everything together.
Nurse
The position of nurse could arguably be the most important at Camp Challenge! We are in need of qualified nurses who have a passion both for helping campers with physical ailments and for loving them with Christ’s love. As a nurse, you would have the joy of administering first aid to campers and staff as needed. Other duties are distributing prescriptions at the appropriate time, caring for the sick, and interviewing campers before their camp begins. A camp nurse is on call 24 hours a day 6 days a week.
Lifeguard
We use many waterfront activities in ministering to campers and lifeguards are a key to that ministry. As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for guarding campers in our waterfront areas, implementing the swim test for campers and using any opportunities available to share Christ’s love with campers. You must have a lifeguard certification. Lifeguards are paid hourly for their time on duty.
